I believe that political and ideological understanding should be taught to kids at the earliest age. So, what would be an effective medium to do so? Indeed a lovely little book. Plato & Co. delivers us yet again with “The Ghost of Karl Marx.” Yes, you heard it right. This is not an evil or brainwashing method to spread a communist idea. Today, with this book, we could actually teach youths the philosophical concept of Karl Marx.

Figure 1. Cover of The Ghost of Karl Marx

The Ghost of Karl Marx takes the audience to the sad story of modern society. It simplifies and sarcastically outlines the problem with the market system, or in other words, “Capitalism.” Readers will experience the perspective of workers who suffer from the way market takes everything from them. The central concept of the social and economic structure was outlined with detailed. After all, the villains of all the problems were diagnosed as the market the rule coming with it.

Figure 2. Short summary on the back cover of the book

In the end, the book also gives the victory to the workers’ class who won by the idea, the world Marx has always dreamt of. Before ending leaving, the message said

“Let’s leave Das Kapital and the worker and move on. I can see that things are progressing! But let’s not celebrate too soon; this disruption of our entire value system is going to require considerable effort on everyone’s part.”

My Short Reviews on the Books

The Ghost of Karl Marx is one of the best kid-friendly short philosophy introductions ever published. The concept was delivered clearly and concisely. The illustration was full of little details, making the book quite charming to read. Everything that should be mentioned is completed perfectly. No mistake was made.
